It's been an arse load of time since I updated my website, so I decided to just buckle down and do it today! Part of my hesitance to get it done has to do with the fact that I plan on moving the whole site over to a new domain soon, and lot's of changes are going to be made! So, updating the Kit's Glass... one seems kind of futile! Still, until I actually get off my butt and start the new website I will have to keep the old one going!

What did I do today? Well, I completed the ArtFire and Etsy pages on my site so that they include (nearly) all of my listings n those shops. I also messed around a bit with the header on my page. I think the new site is going to have a custom header, because I really don't like the options available in Microsoft Office Live.

I have added a lot of items to my shops since I last wrote a blog entry, mostly my smaller bottles and ooak necklaces. The prices of the necklaces are still not where I want them to be, so if you see one you like, I strongly suggest picking it up now before I start reassessing their value! Also, the new Flying Saucer necklace I put in my Etsy shop was an experiment I did just for the hell of it. So, I probably won't be making any more retro spaceship type items, even though I do like the way it came out! It's just not a genre I would generally work in.

BTW, ArtFire is my new favorite, in case you couldn't tell by the entry on my other blog here ;) I love the people there, I love the one page listing forms, and I LOVE that my customers don't need to sign up for an account! You can expect to see a slowdown in the items I put in my Etsy shop, and a growth in the ones that go to ArtFire. Also, because I pay monthly, I can list some of my more high end items on ArtFire without worrying about transaction fees! This is a huge plus for me because I truly enjoy the OOAK pieces more than the smaller ones I make over and over.

I'm trying to come up with ideas about what to include in my new website, so if you have anything you'd like to see, please let me know! The new site will include paintings, sculptures, and anything else my heart desires as far as art goes, so it won't just be Kit's glass anymore. I'm warning you right now, I looooove dragons!

I apologise for the scatter-brained look of this blog post today! It's hot out, and I'm trying to finish so I can head out to my folks and jump in their pool! Anyways, like I said, if you have any suggestions, please feel free to email me, or write in my comments! Thanks!

Lots of Shots!

Well, I may have gone a little overboard in my enthusiasm at finding these cool shot glasses in a shop nearby, and I bought up as many as I could afford! Since then I've been making shot glasses left and right, and my latest are a collaboration with SKELEKITTYandFriends on Etsy! They are Skelekitty Poison shot glasses based on her "Poison" prints, and I have two for sale in my shop right now!

I've also been making Steampunk glasses, and Halloween themed glasses, and soon I'll be doing a Seven Deadly Sins set! I decided it might be a good idea to create a Design-your-own listing, too. So, in both my ArtFire and Etsy shops I have DYO Shot Glasses listed, for either green or clear glasses! The sky's pretty much the limit on these... but just remember, it is a small surface ;)

Harry Potter Themed Glasses

I found some really neat lightning bolt glasses one day, so I bought up a bunch of them knowing that they would come in handy. In fact, the first thing that I thought of when I saw them was Harry Potter! Since the movie was going to come out soon, I decided in June to start making different magical themed glasses to put up on Etsy. Currently I have a phoenix, a dragon, an owl, and a glass with wizard items on it! However, I also thought it might be fun to allow people to come up with their own ideas for these glasses, so I also put a listing up on ArtFire for Design-your-own Harry Potter inspired glasses! Take a look in my shops, and if you know a Harry Potter enthusiast, these glasses would make a great gift!

Zombies, Pirates, Rats, & Cats!

It's been a little bit since I last updated this blog! I haven't gotten any sleep for a few days, so please excuse this entry if it's less than eloquent tonight, lol!

I'm really getting into the mirror face pendant necklaces, and I think I'm going to be on this kick for a while ;) So far I've created bats, and cats, and puppies; and now to add to that collection I also have a zombie, a pirate, a rat, and a new kitty with a fishbone rather than a tail! The pirate and zombie are part of my "Have a Nice Day!" spin-off pieces, and they are each "Have a Nice Plunder!", and "Have a Nice... BrAAaaIIiiNS!" respectively.

New Website for Handmade Artisans!

I ran across a new site called Zibbet on Twitter today that's made for artisans like myself. From first glance I like the setup, because the front page is not overly selective, like Etsy's, nor incredibly cluttered, like ArtFire's! There are three rows of five photo slots on the front page, with one row for the Showcase(which will eventually be purchase-able ad space, but is currently random listings), another for the most popular items, and the last for new listings. All the rows are clearly visible on one screen without scrolling down or to the right, which makes the page look clean, like Etsy, but also allows every artisan a chance at the front page, like ArtFire!

There are no fees for listing, which sounds pretty good, but the transaction fee is 7.5%, which at first sounds kind of ridiculous! However, they have an EXCELLENT referral program, that nets you 2.5% of the sales/purchases of the sellers/buyers that you refer! Also, if you refer someone who buys from your own shop, they reduce the commission they take by 2.5%.

I decided to sign up myself, in an effort to have my name out there as much as possible! Also, I hope I can make some extra money off of their referral program. Therefore, if you do decide to sign up, please use my link:

Neko Kitty, Cheshire Cat, and a Happy Bat!

I'm making some new style necklaces, and I've started with a few I'd really like to keep for myself! In my new ArtFire shop I put this Neko Kitty necklace! He's really cute, and his tail dangles! Plus, when he reflects sunlight you can see his face in the reflection :3

Also, I just listed these guys on Etsy! I'm going to be making a lot of Alice in Wonderland necklaces, and I've already started on the Queen of Hearts, the White Rabbit, March Hare, Mad Hatter, and the Caterpiller! Stay tuned!

Rainforest Lovelies... New ArtFire Shop!

Whatever I can try to get my artwork out there, I'm going to try it! So when I spoke to John Jacobs, the president and founder of ArtFire, and he let me know about all the tools for artisan sellers on ArtFire, I thought I might try to bring a few of my items over to his site! According to Mr. Jacobs there are a lot of promotion tools for us sellers; Rapid Cart, Market Hub, Tweet This, VoteHandmade, etc. I haven't had a chance to look very far into any of these yet, but I'm led to believe that Rapid Cart allows you to add a cart to your blog for handmade items listed on ArtFire! Sounds pretty neat to me, so I think I'll check that out first...

Bats Day and the 13 bottles, or Absinthe in Wonderland

It's Bats Day weekend, and once again I get to be a vendor for the Black Market! I've been scrambling all month; first, with my surgery in late March, and then with relatives visiting, and all the while trying to get everything prepared for this weekend! Well I finally got all of my priority bottles done for the event, and I have a few new things going on this year!

First of all, the Bats Day 2009 bottles... I am once again selling numbered Bats Day bottles, but this time I've only made thirteen in all, and two of them won't be for sale! That's right, the numbers 7 and 13 will be in raffles again this year! #13 will be at my table, where I'll be selling tickets for $1 a piece for the chance to win it, and #7 will be in the pre-show raffle. This is going to be the LAST year that I make any Bats Day bottles, so this will be your last chance to get one! I'll also be selling leftover Bats Day 2008 bottles from last years Black Market.

Speaking of raffles, I've decided to host a free raffle for a chence to win one of four prize baskets full of Etsy's Dark Side Team goodies! Every person who visits my table gets a free ticket for the raffle of one of these baskets which contain cool gothic pendants, magnets, pins, soap samples, and even a 20% coupon for one of my own items! Personally, I'm drooling over the pendants sent to me to use in the raffle by groovymooncreations, and I've put two of my own mirror pendants into the raffle as well!

I've decided on a theme for my table this year, and it's going to be Absinthe in Wonderland. I've specially made three Alice in Wonderland pieces just for this event, and I've also made a new mini Absinthe bottle! I couldn't really call the theme "Alice in Wonderland" because I haven't gotten to the Alice bottle yet. However, I have created The Cheshire Cat, The Queen of Hearts, and The Mad Hatter, not to mention The White Rabbit which I premiered last month! Here's a little sneak peek at the three(for a better look at the Mad Hatter you can visit my Showcase page on my website, since it's my Showcase Piece of the Month):

I've started on a new track lately with jewelry making, and I've really gotten into it for this event! I have a whole bunch of new pieces I've made that will premier at the Black Market, including modified mirror pendants, new tiny bottle designs, and some etched fused glass pieces! I've even made some items that aren't etched at all...

My own personal favorite is the "V is for Vampire" pendant you see on the right. I handmade the Blood Rose pendant that is hanging from the piece, and I love the way it turned out!

Some other new items which will be appearing are my etched mirrors! I have a window-framed mirror that I've turned into a scene from a haunted house called, "Outside My Window", and another lovely little hexagon mirror that I've etched some spooky bats onto.

All in all, I have a lot planned for tomorrow, and I probably should get off of the computer now and finish preparing! OH, and I forgot to mention, THE FIRST THIRTEEN PEOPLE TO BUY FROM MY TABLE GET A COUPON FOR 10% OFF THEIR ENTIRE NEXT PURCHASE!

The White Rabbit!

It took a while, but I finally finished the neck of my White Rabbit piece, and I photographed it for Etsy! He'll be coming with me to Bats Day Black Market as well, but I wanted him for this month's Etsy's Dark Side Exhibition, so that's why I listed him today. Feel free to buy him if you like, because he'll be leaving the shop on May 2nd!

A Present for my Surgeon

I'm back from surgery, and yes I'm still in pain. It hurts to sit at the computer for too long, so I'll make this brief. I don't have the photos of my fibroid yet, but when I get them I will post them on my other blog at http://kitcameo.blogspot.com. I decided that since my surgeon was so nice to me (the ONLY doctor who was nice to me in that hospital!), and since she offered to take the photos for me while she was doing surgery, that I would make her a little present! Now, a doctor that does a myomectamy is usually an infertility specialist, and that was the inspiration behind my design of this particular present:

It's still really unpleasant to sit for long periods of time, so I'm not sure when I'll be back to working on projects again. I do hope to have the White Rabbit finished before Easter, though, so wish me luck!

Blackbeard and Cupcakes!

So today I have two completely different new things I just listed on Etsy(well, except for the fact that they're both bottles.) The first is a cute little cupcake bottle pendant! I usually fill these with pink water, but I left a few empty as fill-your-owns. They make a great accessory, and conversation piece!

The second is my Blackbeard's Rum bottle! This is one of my one-of-a-kind art bottles that I made when I used to sell my stuff at a pirate shop! It was one of the last pieces I made before they closed down, so it didn't really have much time to shine, and it's been sitting in box since! I thought I would take him out and let him have his day in the sun, so here he is!

Harry Potter and Other Trinkets

I have magic on the brain today it seems, so I've listed a few Harry Potter items in my Etsy shop today! Though they don't have to be Harry Potter for someone who isn't a fan, they could simply be a witch hat, a lightning bolt, and a pair of geek glasses! :) I leave it up to you, I just figure I'll get more hits if I tag 'em Harry Potter, lol!

I also just listed two new vial pendants, a little candlestick, and a sacred heart! These are the kind of bottle necklaces that people usually ask about, because they are just the right size to store a lock of hair or a bit of sand, or any tiny momento you'd like to keep with you. I have a friend who uses hers to carry a bit of black tourmaline as an amulet for energy throughout the day :)
